Nursing Award Nomination
Nominate a nurse or team of nurses in the following award categories:
- Excellence in Nursing Practice
- Excellence in Precepting/Clinical Coach
- Nursing Rising Star
- Quality Improvement
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Educator of the Year
- Nurse Leader of the Year
Awards will be presented at the annual Nursing Recognition Dinner in May. The deadline for submitting nominations is February 1st.
Award Qualifications
- The Excellence in Nursing Practice Award recognizes and celebrates a nurse who has greater than two years experience, role models professional nursing practice, builds trust and confidence in others, applies critical thinking, and demonstrates sound clinical judgement in the care they provide.
- The Excellence in Precepting/Clinical Coach Award recognizes and celebrates a nurse who role models professional nursing practice when orienting new nurses, is committed to life-long learning, and addresses individual learning needs.
- The Nursing Rising Star Award recognizes and celebrates a nurse of less than two years who demonstrates continued growth as a newer nurse by seeking out new knowledge, and demonstrates capabilities beyond their years of experience as a nurse.
- The Quality Improvement Award recognizes and celebrates an RN(s) or team who leads and sustains an initiative that demonstrates an impact on quality improvement (patient safety, quality care, or patient experience) on their unit. This award recognizes that excellent nursing care is often delivered in close partnership with multidisciplinary colleagues – or even patients and families.
- The Evidence-Based Practice Award recognizes and celebrates a nurse or group of nurses who use evidence as a basis for practice innovation or provide leadership or mentoring for evidence-based practice changes in the clinical setting. Submission of a presentation or literature review of the project is required.
- The Educator of the Year Award recognizes and celebrates a nurse who is passionate in an informal or formal educator role about teaching and learning, inspires and mentors others, and plays a crucial role in shaping exceptional frontline nurses. The nominee does NOT have to hold a formal educator role.
- The Nurse Leader of the Year Award recognizes and celebrates an RN in a formal leadership role (House Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, CNE, Ancillary Nursing Department Leader (Quality, Risk, Diabetes, etc.) for their outstanding contribution to improving health care delivery, leading change, creating a culture of safety, and building a healthy work environment.
